This is a highly agile, engineering-first environment where your technical voice is actually heard. As they establish Sydney as a critical APAC operational hub, we are looking for a sharp, analytically driven Market Surveillance Associate to join as a foundational member of the Market Regulation team.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is not a slow-moving, back-office compliance job writing policy documents. This is a highly technical, front-line market integrity role. You will operate as the "guardian" of the exchange order book, having the trust and autonomy to investigate trade anomalies and interact directly with institutional liquidity providers.

• Monitor live trading activity across multiple asset classes to detect suspicious patterns, wash trading, or spoofing.

• Conduct post-trade forensic analysis and investigate flagged transactions.

• Enforce exchange rules and broader CFTC Regulations, preparing responses to regulatory audits.

• Work closely with Tech, Risk, and Legal teams to build, refine, and automate surveillance alerts.

• Act as a consultative partner to liquidity providers, giving them real-time guidance on compliance.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• 2-4 years of experience in trade support, middle-office operations, regulatory reporting, or surveillance.

• Working knowledge of derivatives, futures, or complex trading lifecycles.

• A strong investigative, "detective" mindset with the ability to dig into trade data and find the root cause of an issue.

• Confidence to hold the line and communicate effectively with high-pressure institutional traders and market makers.

• An interest in automation (skills in SQL or Python to escape the manual Excel grind are highly regarded).

• Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident (no visa sponsorship I'm afraid).
