ABOUT THE ROLE

The SOC is for watchers. We are looking for an elite operational troubleshooter.

The Sydney APAC security team currently has network security and governance locked down. What they need is a hands-on systems defender. You won't be writing compliance frameworks or hiding behind a ticketing system. You will be the front face of security for the APAC region, operating as a true hybrid: 50% complex, end-to-end operational troubleshooting for the business, and 50% executing advanced endpoint and automation projects.

The core mandate: Keep the trading floor running securely, resolve complex infrastructure bottlenecks, and automate the deployment of advanced endpoint controls across a network where every millisecond counts.

• Hunt the Root Cause: Act as the ultimate escalation point, taking walk-up inquiries and troubleshooting complex systems top-to-bottom, from the endpoint down to the server and port level.

• Secure the Edge: Take ownership of endpoint protection (AV/EDR), managing rollouts, fine-tuning agents, and securing remote access (VPNs, Conditional Access) without choking system performance.

• Drive the Automation: Understand and leverage PowerShell and Python scripts to eliminate manual toil and streamline Identity and Access Management (IAM).

• Partner with the Elite: Collaborate shoulder-to-shoulder with brilliant developers, quants, and a specialist US-based engineering team to deploy bespoke security solutions globally.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

We are looking for operational grit, a deep understanding of how systems communicate, and a willingness to get your hands dirty.

• The Systems Foundation: You likely started your career "under the hood" in Systems Administration, Support, or Infrastructure Engineering before moving into security.

• The Troubleshooting DNA: You possess exceptional "end-to-end" troubleshooting capabilities. You know how to trace a fault through the OS, the proxy, the firewall, and the application layer.

• The Endpoint Expertise: Deep, battle-tested experience deploying and tuning Endpoint Protection and Identity controls.

• The Automation Capability: You are comfortable reading, writing, and executing scripts in PowerShell (essential) and Python to automate administrative workflows.

• The Collaborative Pragmatism: You understand that security is a service to the business. You aren't a rigid blocker; you are a pragmatic problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced walk-up environment.
