You will be the engineer who builds the Google Cloud foundation a new Data and AI practice runs on, and the one who leads it as it grows. Landing zones, IAM, VPC-SC and Terraform, remote from anywhere in Australia, on contract with a path to permanent.

This is an established Australian technology consultancy that has launched a dedicated Data and AI practice on Google Cloud. It is a founding role: you set the standard every client platform is built to, so the business can run those platforms as a managed service. The practice is lining up its first client engagements now. What you will do

The work is Google Cloud end to end: organisation hierarchy, Cloud IAM and org policy, VPC and VPC Service Controls, Terraform, CI/CD and observability, with secure interconnect to the other clouds your clients already run.

• Build secure landing zones. Organisation hierarchy, IAM, networking, billing and monitoring, designed once and repeated across clients.
• Secure the network. Identity-aware network security, VPC Service Controls and cross-cloud interconnect.
• Stand up the delivery engine. Environments, CI/CD, observability and SRE practice.
• Provision the AI platform. Set up Gemini Enterprise for clients, including access, connectors and governance controls, to best practice.
• Build for a managed service. Standardised, observable, multi-tenant patterns on the Google Cloud Well-Architected Framework, hardened for Australian data residency, DLP and compliance, including APRA and privacy.
• Work with clients. Support technical discovery, then document and hand over cleanly.

What you will bring

• A current Google Cloud Professional certification, such as Cloud Architect, Security Engineer or Network Engineer. This one is essential, not a nice to have.
• Commercial GCP delivery in a consulting or client-facing setting, with real depth in landing zone design, IAM, org policy, VPC and VPC Service Controls.
• Infrastructure as code with Terraform, plus CI/CD, logging and monitoring.
• Multi-cloud exposure and secure interconnect experience.
• Lead-level judgement: you work autonomously, guide others, and are comfortable building rapport with client heads and leads.

Nice to have

Gemini Enterprise or Vertex AI familiarity, and experience in regulated or sovereign industries such as financial services, government or health.
